A Marshall man accused of several felonies relating to a shooting incident in Cooper County earlier this year appeared in court earlier this week.
According to a news release from Boonville Police Chief Bobby Welliver, officers were dispatched to the Harley Park area at 1:05 p.m. on May 15, and two persons were transported from the scene to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.
On May 16, Boonville PD arrested 30-year-old Derrick Anthony Young, and he was charged the same day.
Online court documents say Young has been charged with two counts of a Class A Felony for Assault in the First Degree- Causing Serious Physical Injury to Any Person; another Class A Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon; and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. Bond has been set at $500,000 cash or surety.
Young was arraigned and entered a plea of not guilty on Monday, July 22. Young’s next hearing is scheduled to be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, September 9, at Cooper County Circuit Court.
