A Sedalia woman has been charged with a felony for allegedly setting another person’s vehicle on fire.
A probable-cause statement says authorities were dispatched to the report of a vehicle being on fire in the 700 block of West 2nd Street during the early-morning hours on June 22. The victim told authorities he believed the perpetrator to be 55-year-old Pauline Peck. Just a few hours earlier, Peck reportedly had broken into the victim’s house and was issued a warning from authorities because the victim did not wish to pursue charges. The woman reportedly was only wearing socks at the time.
After that incident, the woman allegedly called the victim multiple times. Just before the fire was noticed, the victim said Peck called him and said she was going to burn down his house and his car. Footprints at the scene of the fire reportedly were left by a person only wearing socks. The vehicle, which also had a back tire slashed, was valued at $19,000.
Online court documents say Peck has been charged with a Class E Felony for Knowingly Burning. Bond has been set at $50,000 cash or surety.
Peck’s initial hearing is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
