Three persons were killed- including two Higginsville residents- in a two-vehicle head-on traffic crash in Ozark County on Friday.
According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred as a northbound vehicle, driven by 21-year-old Daniel Klessig, of Gainesville, reportedly crossed the centerline of the roadway and impacted a southbound vehicle, driven by 57-year-old Paul Cowherd.
Paul Cowherd and Klessig were pronounced deceased at the scene at 4:58 p.m. by Ozark County Coroner Shane Ledbetter; and a passenger in Cowherd’s vehicle- 52-year-old Marti Cowherd- was transported by Ozark County ambulance to Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas, where she was pronounced deceased by a doctor at 6:42 p.m.
The crash happened at 4:56 p.m. on Highway 5, 11 miles north of Gainesville.
