Three men who were inmates at an area jail have been charged with drug-related felonies.
According to probable-cause statements, while incarcerated at the Boonville Correctional Center, 36-year-old Jason Parrent, 33-year-old Travis Busse and 39-year-old Jeffery Nash reportedly each received envelopes in the mail that underneath the stamps were orange strips that tested positive for Soboxone, a controlled substance.
According to online court documents, Parrent has been charged with three counts, and Busse and Nash one count of a Class E Felony for Attempted Delivery or Possession of a Controlled Substance at a County Jail or Correctional Center, Excluding a Written Prescription. Bond for each has been set at $10,000 cash or surety.
An initial hearing for each man is pending at Cooper County Circuit Court.
None of the persons who allegedly sent the letters has been charged at this time.
