Area fire fighters battled a blaze for several hours- beginning on Tuesday, July 30, and ending on Wednesday, July 31.
According to a post on the Johnson County Fire Protection District’s Facebook page, at 11:43 a.m. Stations 1 and 10, of Warrensburg, and Station 5, of Centerview, were dispatched to the Fairview Mills facility at 102 Southwest Highway 58 in Centerview to a report of explosions and an industrial structure fire. As crews arrived, two additional explosions occurred and fire spread inside the processing building and bagging system duct network.
After extinguishing the visible fire, crews focused on the smoldering materials contained inside of the duct network. Working with employees from the facility, fire crews removed the smoldering materials to make sure all of the fire was extinguished.
JCFPD crews were assisted at the scene by a Warrensburg Fire Department ladder truck, Johnson County Ambulance District and the JCFPD Fire Auxiliary. Personnel cleared the scene at 1:20 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, nearly 14 hours after the initial response.
No civilian injuries were reported.
No other information is available at this time.
