A reception followed by a groundbreaking ceremony for the first construction project in the Marshall Public School District in more than four decades is scheduled to be held on Monday, August 5.
Marshall Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Carol Maher says city and state officials are scheduled to be present on the Spainhower Campus- formerly the Marshall Habilitation Center Campus.
Dr. Maher says the event will begin with a reception at 2 p.m. She said there will be drawings to show what the addition will look like; and they will answer any questions and clear up any possible misconceptions of how the project actually is being funded. The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled f0r 3 p.m.
Dr. Maher said the project is estimated to cost between $6.5 and $7.5 million; and the building is projected to be ready for the 2020-21 school year. She said this will be the first construction project within the district since Marshall High School, which opened its doors for the first time for the 1976-77 school year.
