The Shopping Under the Sun and Sips-N-Grins Wine walk will be held Saturday, August 3 on the Marshall square. This is the third year for Shopping Under the Sun. Ashley Book with the Marshall Cultural Council says there are a lot of things going on Saturday.
She said, “There will be over 50 vendors. There’s food vendors, from kettle corn to fresh lemonade. The Boy Scouts will be there selling pulled pork. The Knights will be doing hamburgers and hot dogs. There’s just a number of different food vendors.” Book said, “There’s woodworking, jewelry, handmade signs, boutiques, lots and lots of stuff as far as the vendors go.”
New this year to Shopping Under the Sun is a Chalk Walk. The walk will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Participants can come and go as they please, and it’s free. Every skill level is invited, including children. Participants will get a marked off space to create their design. You can bring your own chalk or there will be chalk for purchase. A $200 cash prize will be awarded to the first place winner of that group.
There will also be live music throughout the day on the main stage on the north side of the Square.
The Sips-n-Grins Wine Walk will be going on in conjunction with the Shopping Under the Sun. There is expected to be over 15 winery’s and distillery’s, which will include some favorites from last year as well as some new vendors. This year, there will also be beer and margaritas for sale. Lindsey Parton with the Marshall Chamber says anyone wanting to purchase beverages must purchase a wristband for $20. Wristbands can be purchased at the Marshall Chamber or at sipsngrins.eventbrite.com.
Anyone with a wristband can go into the Man Cave set up in the old JC Penney building.
There will be a silent auction taking place inside the community room at Wood & Huston bank.
The check-in’s or “ticket tents” will be on each corner of the square. The check-in on the north side of the square will open at 1 p.m. tomorrow for anyone wanting to come early. All other check-in’s will open at 4 p.m.
