Governor Mike Parson received the School Safety Task Force report on July 31.
According to a news release from Lieutenant Governor Mike Kehoe, the report and strategic plan represents input from Missourians who took the time and make the effort to attend public meetings or submitted their thoughts and recommendations online. This report and strategic plan will provide schools with a base-line of preparedness upon which to build.
Kehoe said, “School safety is an evolving subject that warrants on-going attention.”
The Missouri School Safety Task Force was established on March 13, 2019 by Executive Order signed by Governor Mike Parson.
The Task Force composition includes expertise from several state agencies including: the Missouri Department of Public Safety, Mental Health and Education, the Missouri School Boards Association, the Center for Education Safety, a representative from the statewide School Resource Officer Association and a legislator from both the Missouri House and Senate.
