During the Saline County Commissioner’s meeting on Thursday, August 8, Saline County Prosecutor, Tim Thompson encouraged the community to pay attention to their surroundings because crime can happen in broad daylight or when least expected.
According to a news release from the Saline County Prosecutor’s office, during the meeting Thompson intended to ask for the public to be on the lookout for a suspicious person and vehicle in connection with a recent possible child abduction. Prior to the Commissioner’s meeting, Thompson spoke with the Missouri State Highway Patrol and learned there was a possible lead in the investigation and law enforcement did not want to tip off the suspicious person.
Missouri State Highway Patrol was able to locate the suspicious person and learned he was only looking for a credit card that he may have lost while walking in the area and he did not appear to have any nefarious intentions toward a nearby child.
Thompson also said, although no one was harmed this time, child abductions are an unfortunate reality and we should all stay alert and do what we can to protect any child at any time.
