Bond has been set at six figures for a Boonville man who allegedly assaulted another man and has been charged with two felonies.
According to a probable-cause statement, it has been alleged that 33-year-old Tarris Edward Lee Poindexter forced his way into a room and assaulted a man by striking him in the face with a closed fist and choking him until he was nearly unconscious on July 30. After the alleged victim escaped to a bathroom, he said Poindexter used an unknown tool to reenter the room and assaulted him again. A law-enforcement officer reportedly observed damage to the door of the apartment, a blood smear on the door frame and some blood drops in the bathroom and near an area building where the alleged victim ran.
Online court documents say Poindexter has been charged with a Class B Felony for Burglary in the First Degree and a Class E Felony for Third-Degree Assault. Bond has been set at $100,000 cash or surety.
Poindexter’s initial hearing is pending at Cooper County Circuit Court.
