A 23-year-old Las Vegas man has been charged with a felony for allegedly writing a phony check to purchase some items on June 11 in Cooper County.
According to a probable-cause statement, on June 28, the owner of Mellor Trailer in Boonville reported to authorities that Connor Drummond had bought a trailer, toolbox and ball-hitch mount totaling $4,244.70. The owner said she received notification that the check had bounced on June 13. The owner said she sent a letter to Drummond to inform him if the payment wasn’t made by June 25, she was going to forward information to the Cooper County Prosecuting Attorney for action.
Moberly police contacted the owner informing her the trailer was located abandoned; and Drummond reportedly has failed to respond to letters from the prosecuting attorney.
Online court documents say a warrant has been issued and Drummond has been charged with a Class D Felony for Stealing of $750 or More. Bond has been set at $5,000 cash only.
Drummond’s initial hearing is pending at Cooper County Circuit Court.
