After holding a public hearing on the matter, the Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen voted to approve the proposed tax levy during its meeting on Monday, August 12.
City Clerk Michelle Fuehring says the rate is slightly higher than it was last year.
The rate is subject to approval by the Missouri Secretary of State’s office.
In other news, aldermen considered a bid for the city’s liability insurance.
Fuehring said the board approved the quote, but Fuehring said the board requested her to check on the provision about terrorism insurance. “We don’t know that the terrorism insurance is really beneficial to us because we don’t have over $100 million in assets.” She said if that could be taken off, it would save the city $73.
