Marshall’s City Council meeting on Monday, August 19, began with a public hearing regarding the 2019-20 tax levy.
City Administrator David Haugland explained there wasn’t much change in the proposed rate that was in place for the last fiscal year.

Later, in the regular-session meeting, the council approved the first and second readings of the ordinance for the proposed tax levy, which has to be approved by the Secretary of State’s Office.
The $1.1745 total breaks down as: 66.87 cents for the city’s general fund; 28.92 cents for the park fund; 4.48 cents for the band fund; and 17.18 cents for the library fund.
