A 36-year-old Houstonia woman who allegedly attacked a man with a pair of scissors at a residence in Pettis County on August 24 has been charged with multiple felonies.
According to a probable-cause statement, the man told authorities Sarah S. Kearney had tried to stab him after an argument. The man said he had suffered a cut when he put up his right arm to block the scissors. He said he grabbed the scissors and wrestled them away from Kearney, suffering cuts on his hand in the process. The deputy noted the man had suffered a cut about five inches long on his back side of his right forearm that appeared to be consistent with being cut by a pair of scissors; and to his palm, consistent with grabbing the scissors by the blade. During her interview, Kearney reportedly denied cutting the man with the scissors and thought he must have cut himself while he was taking them away from her.
According to online court documents, Kearney has been charged with a Class D Felony for Domestic Assault in the Second Degree; a Class E Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon- Exhibiting; and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. Bond has been set at $50,000 cash or surety.
Kearney was arraigned on August 26. Her next hearing is scheduled to be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, at Pettis County Circuit Court.
