Two area residents have been charged with multiple felonies for allegedly threatening people with a weapon in Carroll County.
According to a probable-cause statement, on Wednesday, August 28, authorities were dispatched to Sonic Drive-In on Harvest Hills Drive in Carrollton to a report of two male subjects armed with a handgun allegedly threatening to shoot someone. The two subjects reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle prior to the arrival of authorities. Later, the two men allegedly got out of their vehicle and attempted to fight a resident in the 100 block of East 4th Street. The resident said one of the subjects wielded a handgun and pointed it at his face. The two subjects were arrested later that day, and authorities say they found a handgun, which matched the description of witnesses, inside the residence in the 300 block of North Jefferson Street. Arrested were 24-year-old Lamont Cooper Jr., of Columbia, and 18-year-old William Keshaun Lucas, of Carrollton.
Online court documents say Cooper and Lucas each has been charged with a Class B Felony for Assault in the First Degree or Attempt; a Class D Felony for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm; a Class E Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon- Exhibiting; and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. Bond for each man has been set at $50,000 cash only.
An initial hearing for each of the accused subjects is pending at Carroll County Circuit Court.
