Betty Newell, age 84, of Marshall, died Saturday, August 31, 2019.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, September 5, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Memorial graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 6, at Peninsula Cemetery in Cooper County.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Survivors include nine children, Bruce W. Garrett (Cheryl), of Grain Valley, Jimmie D. Garrett, of Lincoln, Gary Dean Garrett (Swietlana) and Sherry L. Evans, of Marshall, Ricky L. Garrett, of Knob Noster, Wesley E. Garrett, of Marshall, Tammy L. Smith, of Grain Valley, David Leroy Smith (Sandy) and Edward Luther Newell, of Marshall; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Burnice Underwood, of Concordia; two brothers, Larry Wayne Skinner, of Stover, and Harold Wesley Skinner, of Marshall; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her mother, Lucille Ford, and husband, Charles Louis “Eddie” Newell Jr., Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, Warren Wesley Garrett; stepfather, John Skinner; two sons, Warren Wesley Garrett and Ronnie Earl Garrett; one granddaughter, Alexandra Garrett; one great-granddaughter, Kaitlynn Gaage; and three sisters, Carol Skinner, Ruth Simmons and Paulette Fyock.
