Formal charges have been filed against an area resident relating to a shooting incident that left one person dead on Saturday, August 31, in Pettis County.
According to a release from the Sedalia Police Department on its Facebook page, officers responded to 11th and Ohio on a report of gunshots being fired and a subject on the ground at 11:38 p.m. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, 25-year-old Adrian R. Clark, of Sedalia, in the street. He had been shot several times and died from his wounds.
An investigation led to the arrest of a suspect, 27-year-old Elijah H. Watts, of Sedalia.
According to online court documents, Watts has been charged with Class A Felonies for Second-Degree Murder and Unlawful Use of a Weapon; a Class D Felony for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm; and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. Bond has been fixed at $500,000 cash or surety.
Watts was scheduled to be arraigned at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, September 3, at Pettis County Circuit Court. An update is not available at this time.
