A Marshall resident who was charged in 2018 with sex-related felonies in two different cases is due to appear for a hearing in each case on Monday, September 9.
According to a probable-cause statement, on October 11, a 13-year-old female told authorities about an unwanted sexual encounter with Chase Matthew Watts, who is now 20 years old. Online court documents say Watts has been charged with an Unclassified Felony for Statutory Rape or Attempted Statutory Rape in the First Degree- with a Person Less Than 14 Years of Age. Bond has been set at $100,000 cash or surety relating to the first case.
Court documents also say bond in the other matter has been set at $250,000 cash only, as Watts has been charged with three counts of an Unclassified Felony for Sodomy in the First Degree- Aggravated Sexual Offense. He is alleged to have touched a girl inappropriately and had the girl perform sexual acts on him.
A plea/trial-setting hearing in each matter is scheduled to be held at 1:15 p.m. at Saline County Circuit Court.
