A MacClenny, Florida, resident is facing a drug-related felony charge after a traffic stop on I-70 in Lafayette County on September 9.
According to a probable-cause statement, during a probable-cause search, the trooper says he found seven vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana (weighing a total of approximately eight pounds); and two jars of a brown wax-like substance- weighing approximately one pound. The driver reportedly said she was unaware of the marijuana being in the vehicle.
Online court documents say 49-year-old Shirley Kay Chavis has been charged with a Class D Felony for Delivery of a Controlled Substance. Bond has been set at $10,000.
Chavis pleaded not guilty during her arraignment hearing on September 10. Her next hearing is scheduled to be held at 9:30 a.m. on September 25.
