The Saline County Health Care Coalition (SCHCC) is scheduled to conduct a community, full-scale long-term care facility evacuation exercise next week.
According to a news release, the exercise is scheduled to take place from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, at Big Bend Retreat in Slater.
During the exercise, 13 “patients” will be evacuated to an alternate-care site, which will be set up at the Youth Center on Front Street. Missouri Valley College School of Nursing students will portray the patients.
The goal of the exercise is to enhance collaboration in Saline County and strengthen SCHCC’s ability to respond to a local emergency using its current policies, resources and Emergency Operation Plans (EOPs).
Agencies scheduled to participate in the exercise include the Slater Police and Fire Departments; Slater Ambulance District; Saline County Emergency Management Agency; Marshall Police and Fire Departments; Saline County Medical Reserve Corps; Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall; the Slater City Administrator; and other members of SCHCC.
