The Saline County Health Care Coalition (SCHCC) conducted a community, full-scale long-term care facility evacuation exercise on Tuesday, September 17.
The exercise took place at Big Bend Retreat in Slater. And Slater City Administrator Gene Griffith gave an overview of what took place during the meeting of the city council.
Griffith said the exercise lasted about two hours, and the agencies met back at the Youth Center and went over what was good and not-so-good.
According to a news release prior to the event, the goal of the exercise was to enhance collaboration in Saline County and strengthen coalition’s ability to respond to a local emergency using its current policies, resources and Emergency Operation Plans (EOPs).
Agencies that were scheduled to participate included the Slater Police and Fire Departments; Slater Ambulance District; Saline County Emergency Management Agency; Marshall Police and Fire Departments; Saline County Medical Reserve Corps; Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall; the Slater City Administrator; and other members of SCHCC.
