The Slater City Council was asked to approve the city to file an application to try to qualify to get grant funds to spruce up a portion of Main Street during its meeting on Tuesday, September 17.
City Administrator Gene Griffith says the applications are due by October 1. He said he and Mayor Dr. Stephen Allegri have been working on getting paperwork together.

Griffith said the project’s overall cost will be at least $200,000.

Griffith said the project is for three city blocks from the depot north on Main Street. The council approved the city to go ahead and file all of the paperwork necessary for the grant application.
