A New Bloomfield man has been charged with a felony for allegedly stealing a vehicle from a grocery store parking lot in Carrollton on September 12.
According to a probable-cause statement, through the use of video surveillance at Mulch’s Country Mart and tips off a Facebook post, authorities identified the suspect as 44-year-old Jason Dean Hopkins, of New Bloomfield. The vehicle reportedly was recovered in rural Carroll County on September 14.
Online court documents say a warrant has been issued and Hopkins has been charged with a Class D Felony for Stealing a Motor Vehicle. The court has ordered no bond. A woman who reportedly was in the vehicle with Hopkins has not been charged at this time.
Hopkins’ initial hearing is pending at Carroll County Circuit Court.
