Three women were at the meeting of the Slater City Council on Tuesday, September 17, asking the council for use of a city building for some classes involving a program to help out area residents in need.
According to Paula Harris, the program is for those who are struggling to overcome life-controlling issues.

Harris says they are looking for something that can give the program participants a bit better location than currently is being used.

Harris said it is nondenominational. The class is not geared toward any specific religious belief.
According to a flyer presented, the program is free, but there is a $12.50 charge for a book that is used. The program is presented by trained facilitators. For more information on the program, call (660) 529-9960 or (660) 631-2290.
The council discussed the request in executive session after the regular meeting. Information from that portion of the meeting is not available at this time.
