Markus John Matthews, age 79, of Lincoln and formerly of Alma, died Monday, September 23, 2019.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 26, at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Build Fund or the Benton County Hospice, in care of Davis-Miller Funeral Home at 119 W. Main Street, Lincoln, Missouri, 65338.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; son, Mitchell Matthews, of Lincoln; daughter, Diane Sherrill, of Brighton; granddaughter, Mikayla Sherrill; sister, Barbara Sander; and her husband, Edward, of Alma; sister-in-law, Alleen Matthews, of Alma; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, John Matthews, and his mother, Laura (Bargfrede) Matthews; his brother, Orville; his sister, Mariam; his brother-in-law, Ervin Martens; and his sister-in-law, Marilyn Ohrenberg.
