Missouri Valley College’s athletic programs, in partnership with the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance on the campus in Marshall, came together to help work a “Feed The Funnel” event recently, preparing and boxing thousands of meals.
According to a news release, dozens of student-athletes who participate in nearly 20 athletic programs came together in the Charles L. Bacon Conference Center at the Malcolm Center for Student Life for this NAIA Champions of Character volunteering opportunity. The student-athletes helped sort, separate and box for shipping over 20,000 meals that will be distributed to those in need locally and in the surrounding region.
“This was a great opportunity for our athletic programs to come together for something that will help people in need, not only in Marshall, but in other communities,” Associate Athletic Director Colin Smith said. “Feed The Funnel is a great cause, and we are excited to have partnered with them again this year. Hopefully this is something we can do every year and involve more students on campus as this event continues to grow.”
This is the second year the college has sponsored a “Feed The Funnel” event, which was created by The Pack Shack.
The Missouri Valley Community Action Agency also sponsored the event.
