The Saline County commission held its annual tax-rate hearing for 2019 during a recent meeting.
According to meeting minutes, Clerk Debbie Russell explained the tax rate is determined by dividing the amount of revenue required by the current assessed valuation. She said the result is multiplied by 100 so the tax rate will be expressed in cents per $100 of assessed valuation on real and personal property.
Presiding commissioner Kile Guthrey Jr. asked for a motion to approve the rates: general revenue at $.1537; Special Road and Bridge at $.3586; Common Road at $.2402; and Common Road Temp at $.3513.
All of the rates were approved.
Two other rates were approved by their own entity: Senate Bill 40 at $.0564; and property to replace the M&M surtax at $.4000.
