During the meeting of the Saline County Commission on Thursday, September 26, Emergency Management Agency Director Tony Day urged area residents to sign up for RAVE alerts to allow them to receive information they need to know in a short period of time.
Day said he will be working with the other smaller cities if they want him to help set up the RAVE alert system for them. He says the cities of Slater and Sweet Springs do their own.
Saline County Auditor Tara Vogelsmeier asked “How do residents find out when a boil advisory has been lifted? We get the advisory (notice), but we don’t always know when it’s done.”
Day said with the smaller communities such as Gilliam, he will be sending out the messages. Day is hoping to get it so that every water customer within the county has the ability to receive alerts.
