A Marshall man has been charged with felonies for allegedly burglarizing a residence in Carroll County earlier this year.
According to a probable-cause statement, a confidential informant told authorities 37-year-old Matthew C. Roettgen was the person who allegedly burglarized and robbed a residence in the 800 block of Main Street in De Witt sometime between May 6 and May 9. The property owner reported several items- including vintage comic books- allegedly were stolen. He valued the items at more than $9,000.
The law-enforcement officer noted pry marks near the hasp on the door as if a knife or a screwdriver was used to pry off the hasp to gain entry.
According to online court documents, a warrant has been issued and Roettgen has been charged with Class D Felonies for Second-Degree Burglary and Stealing of $750 or More. Bond has been set at $10,000 cash or licensed surety- no 10-percent allowed.
Roettgen’s initial hearing is pending at Carroll County Circuit Court.
