Real-estate agent Rhonda Boedeker was at the meeting of the Marshall City Council on Monday, October 7, asking the council to consider amending a regulation on tourist homes.
Boedeker said an historic home at 512 East Arrow Street has been renovated, and a prospective buyer wants to be able to rent it out as a vacation home such as through VRBO or Airbnb. Boedeker said the house easily can accommodate more than the current maximum of six persons allowed. She says it is more than 5,600 square feet in size and has multiple large bedrooms and bathrooms.
Ward 2 Councilman Kirk Arends says he wants to make sure the neighbors know about the potential owner’s intentions.
Boedeker said she will do her best to do that.
After a lot of discussion and multiple questions, the council tabled a decision until more information can be gathered.
