Several Saline County communities received checks from county commissioners during a recent ceremony.
At the meeting of the county commission on Tuesday, October 15, Northern District Commissioner Stephanie Gooden and Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner talked about the event.

Fenner said the economic-development sales tax makes the county a bit unique; and Presiding Commissioner Kile Guthrey Jr. said a former commissioner played a big role in getting the measure on the ballot.

Voters in Saline County approved a one-half cent sales-tax ballot measure for economic development within the county in April 2018. It sunsets on December 31, 2038.
Gooden said prospective projects will be presented again next April; voted on and approved in June; and more checks doled out again next October.
