The Slater City Council considered approval of a matching grant for the city to purchase a mini-trackhoe during its meeting on Tuesday, October 15.
City Administrator Gene Griffith said the city applied for a Rural Development Block Grant to purchase one to replace a used one the city had bought several years ago.

Griffith said the goal is to get everything completed by the end of the year.

Griffith explained the old one the city currently has will be sold.
The council approved the motion to go ahead with the purchase.
