A Marshall woman suffered moderate injuries in a two-vehicle traffic crash in Lafayette County on Saturday.
A report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred as 77-year-old Melissa Girven’s vision reportedly was obstructed by the sun while her westbound vehicle was traveling around a curve and she failed to observe an eastbound John Deere Tractor, driven by 65-year-old Richard Sedge, of Mayview. Girven swerved her vehicle to try to avoid Sedge’s vehicle, but ultimately Girven’s vehicle struck the tractor.
While Sedge reportedly was not injured, Girven was transported by private vehicle to St. Luke’s Hospital in Lee’s Summit for treatment.
The crash happened just after 7 p.m. on Wheatley Road, west of Boundary Road.
