A woman died in a structure fire in Marshall on Sunday, October 27.
According to a spokesperson at the Marshall Fire Department, fire fighters were toned out at 6:09 a.m. to a duplex in the 500 block of West Vest Street. They arrived on the scene at 6:11 a.m., and flames were coming from an east-side window. The front door was locked, so fire fighters had to force entry into that side of the duplex to extinguish the fire, and the victim was found in the kitchen already deceased.
The spokesperson said the fire was under control at 8:43 a.m., and the last unit left the scene at 11:33 a.m.
The name of the victim has not been released. The residents in the other side of the duplex were not home at the time of the fire. He said that side of the duplex suffered minimal smoke damage.
The State Fire Marshall has been called in to investigate.
No other injuries were reported from the scene.
