Three area residents, including a child, suffered injuries in a traffic crash in Cooper County on Sunday.
According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred as 21-year-old Johnathan Stockwell, of Tipton, reportedly failed to negotiate a curve in his northbound vehicle, and the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a sign, five yard posts and a tree.
Stockwell, who reportedly was not wearing a seat belt, and a passenger in the vehicle- 22-year-old Cheyanne Stackman, of Bunceton- each suffered serious injuries. A 3-year-old girl, of Tipton, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Stockwell was flown by MU Air Care helicopter and Stackman transported by Cooper County ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.
The crash happened just before 10:20 p.m. on Route B, one-half mile south of McCulloch Road.
