The No. 10-ranked Missouri Valley College men’s wrestling team spent its Halloween night collecting food donations in the Marshall community.
According to a news release team members collected 1,783 donated items in the program’s ninth-annual “Kans-4-Kids” donation drive.
After collecting the donated goods, the team met at Northwest Elementary school to count and organize the donated items. The items will go to needy families in the community over the upcoming holidays.
“The entire team and coaching staff are very thankful and gracious to everyone who donated to the drive this year,” Men’s Wrestling Head Coach Mike Machholz said. “Since the donation drive started, we have reached nearly 20,000 canned goods collected. Even with the cold weather tonight, we had great support, and enjoy getting out in the community to meet people.”
The Viking men’s wrestling team opens its 2019-20 season with the CMU Open at Central Methodist University in Fayette on Saturday, November 2.
