Area authorities are investigating after an officer-involved shooting on Tuesday, November 5.
According to a news release from the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office issued at 9:54 p.m., detectives were on the scene of an of an officer-involved shooting in rural northwest Pettis County.
Deputies were called to a disturbance at the residence and shots reportedly were fired at them upon arrival. Officers returned fire and struck the resident, who died of injuries sustained.
Pettis County Sheriff Kevin Bond has requested assistance from the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control (DDCC), which also was on the scene. The Pettis County Coroner’s Office also was on the scene.
