In late June, Fred Wiedner resigned as Mayor of the city of Lexington. Scott Lynn has been serving as Mayor Pro Tem since then.
So, the city held a special election on Tuesday, November 6, and a former state representative unofficially has been elected.
According to unofficial numbers this morning, former Marshall and Lexington Public Schools Superintendent Joe Aull won the race by a landslide– 643 to 288 over David Goodloe.
Aull- who served as superintendent at Lexington for nine years and Marshall for seven and State Representative for eight years- thanked the voters for all of the support.

Aull- who was let go as Lexington City Administrator earlier this year in a controversial decision by the council- said he is hoping to bring everybody together.

Aull continued….

Aull said as far as he knows, he will be sworn in as the city’s new mayor at its next council meeting on Tuesday, November 12.
