Odessa Police officers responded to the report of an explosive device in a hotel room on Wednesday, November 6, 2019.
According to a post on the Odessa Police Departments Facebook page, officers were dispatched  to the Parkside Inn on Old 40 Highway at 10 a.m. following the report of an explosive device found in an occupant’s room. Once on the scene officers located the unidentified device.
Additional agencies were called in to assist in securing the area and the hotel was evacuated and the gas supply to the building was shut off. U.S. Highway 40 was shut down for a little of a hour to allow EOD technicians to work safely and remove the device.
The Highway was reopened just before 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon after the scene had been cleared.
No other information regarding the incident is available at this time.
