With the end of the fiscal year right around the corner, some adjustments to the budget had to be made in Slater.
City Administrator Gene Griffith explained the city took care of some expensive projects this year.

Griffith explained the council approved the budget updates during its meeting on Tuesday, November 5. He said the city’s fiscal year ends December 31.
In other news, Griffith said the city’s annual “Turkey Give-A-Way” will be held beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, in front of Slater General Store. He said the city also will turn on the Main Street Christmas lights and light the Mayor’s Christmas Tree; and Santa Claus will be there to help kick off the holiday season.
