An Odessa man is facing felony charges after an alleged assault on Monday, November 4, 2019 in Lafayette County.
According to a probable cause statement, the Odessa Police Department received information regarding a possible sexual assault that had taken place at a residence in the 300 block of South Fifth Street. The report goes on to say the victim allegedly received text messages from 26-year-old Anthony Fannon stating that he was going to hurt himself. The victim allegedly went to Fannon’s home to talk to him when the incident occurred. The victim told authorities after she got into Fannon’s vehicle to talk to him he made several sexual advances towards her, even after she told him to stop. During the assault, Fannon allegedly choked the victim causing her to have difficulty breathing. She stated after he had quit choking her he proceeded to force himself on her.
After the alleged assault, Fannon allegedly shoved the victim out of his truck and proceeded to assault her. As she attempted to leave, Fannon tried to block her path and damaged her vehicle and she allegedly struck him with her car.
Once officers made contact with Fannon he allegedly told authorities the victim did tell him “no” several times during the incident.
Fannon is being charged with an Unclassified Felony for Rape or Attempted Rape in the 1st Degree and a Class D Felony for Domestic Assault in the 2nd Degree.
Bond has been set at $100,000 cash or surety with special conditions that include no contact with the victim.
Online court documents indicate Fannon was arraigned Wednesday, November 6. His next court appearance is scheduled for 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
