During the meeting of the Concordia Board of Aldermen on Monday, November 4, alderman approved an ordinance for the mayor to execute a contract with the Lafayette County Collector and other county offices to provide tax collection services for the city. The agreement is for a one year. beginning on July 1, 2020.
According to minutes from the meeting, the city will continue to get its two-percent collection fee. Currently, the city is invoiced the assessment fees of one-half of one percent, but this would come out of the taxes collected by the county. Any litigations would be prosecuted at Lafayette County Circuit Court. Notice will need to be given to cancel the contract, or it will renew automatically. Lafayette County Collector Lori Fiegenbaum says she will do everything she can to collect the city’s delinquent taxes, but she can’t commit to collecting them.
In other news, aldermen approved an ordinance authorizing the mayor to execute the “addendum to the water purchase contracts” between the city and Consolidated Public Water Supply District No. 2 of Lafayette, Johnson and Saline Counties and the city of Emma, amending the rates for water purchased by PWSD NO. 2 and the city of Emma. These set the water rate purchased by each, effective for the January 2020 billing cycle.
Aldermen also approved an ordinance authorizing the mayor to execute an “Internet Auction Agreement“ with Purple Wave Auction for the sale of the city’s JCB 210 SL Mark II loader and related equipment through the use of Internet sales.
