A concerned citizen’s call led to the arrest of an Anabel, Missouri, resident for alleged possession of a controlled substance in Malta Bend on November 7.
According to a report from the Saline County Sheriff’s Department, the citizen told authorities there was a suspicious person sitting at the Malta Bend MFA for an extended period of time. The man was contacted by a deputies and consented to a search of his vehicle and person. The deputies reportedly located a digital scale with methamphetamine particles on it and a small Ziploc-style baggie with methamphetamine. Once placed under arrest, the man said he had a methamphetamine pipe concealed on his body.
According to online court documents, 46-year-old Jason Hopper has been charged with a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance and a drug-related misdemeanor. Bond has been set at $7,500 cash or surety.
Hopper was arraigned while in custody on November 8, and a confined docket hearing is scheduled to be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13, at Saline County Circuit Court.
