At the meeting of the Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen this week, Police Chief Tammy Johnson asked for permission to purchase some equipment for the department.
City Clerk Michelle Fuehring explained the board approved a bid from Axon. The quote is for five years for three Tasers at $1,125.31 per year.
Aldermen approved the purchase.
Fuehring also said Johnson asked permission to purchase a vehicle for the department.
Johnson told the board the Ford Police Interceptor Vehicle has between 60,000 and 65,000 miles on it. If everything checks out, the purchase will be made at $18,950.
In other news, the board decided to wait and get more information to make a decision regarding the possible purchase of body cameras from Axon for $14,608.02 for five years.
In other news, the board approved a request to close city hall at 3 p.m. Friday, November 15, so city employees can attend the Class 1, District 5 championship football game as the third-seeded Sweet Springs Greyhounds play at No. 1-seeded Marceline at 7 p.m.
