The Boonville Police Department has been made aware of a scam-like phone call. They say the Caller ID shows the police department’s phone number to indicate it is the Boonville Police Department.
The department says: “The female caller identified herself as Detective Hamm and wanted the call recipient to meet her at the department “for charges.”
“While officers do sometimes call people and ask them to meet with them at the police department, this was not a legitimate call.
“If you are ever in doubt of the legitimacy of a phone call, you should hang up and call the department at (660) 882-2727.”
