The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control arrested 25-year-old Peyton James Downs, of Richmond, on Wednesday, November 20, for allegedly promoting and possession of child pornography.
A news release from the highway patrol says the arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by members of the Division of Drug and Crime Control’s Digital Forensics Investigative Unit.
On November 20, investigators executed a search warrant at Downs’ residence on Bruns Road. As a result of their search, investigators seized child pornography and computer equipment. Downs was transported to the Ray County Jail.
According to court documents, Downs has been charged with two counts of a Class B Felony for Possession of Child Pornography and a Class B Felony for Promoting Child Pornography in the First Degree. Bond has been set at $100,000 cash only.
Downs appeared in custody and was arraigned on Thursday, November 21. A bond-reduction hearing is scheduled to be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 25, at Ray County Circuit Court.
