Part of a back retaining brick wall at an attraction in Marshall caved in on Wednesday, November 27.
The wall at the back of the “Jim The Wonder Dog Memorial Garden” in the 100 block of North Lafayette Avenue- just off the Marshall Square- collapsed.
Friends of Jim the Wonder Dog Board President Larry Arrowood says it more than likely collapsed due to pressure from strong winds.
Arrowood says only some bushes inside the garden suffered any damage. He says it did not affect the Gazebo, but the board will take that into consideration when it decides to rebuild “because there’s a good chance it could happen at that end, too.”
Arrowood says the park will remain closed at least until the bricks that have fallen can be cleared off the walkway in the garden.
Arrowood says the 12-member board will have to meet to decide how to replace the wall.
Arrowood says he doesn’t know how long the complete cleanup will take, but he says “we’ll probably get in there in the next few days to at least get the bricks off of the sidewalk so we can open it.”
