A Springfield, Ohio, man charged with a felony after accepting a package which reportedly contained a good amount of a controlled substance changed his plea in court this week.
A probable-cause statement says the Marshall Police Department received a call from a Department of Homeland Security special investigator on March 4, and the investigator said a package was intercepted by U.S. Border and Customs. In the package were two picture frames, which reportedly contained several ounces of cocaine. The package was addressed to 25-year-old Victor Emmanuel Casey III.
Casey was charged with a Class C Felony for Delivery of a Controlled Substance after reportedly attempting to pick up a package at the Marshall Police Department on March 14.
Casey reportedly said he was paid $400 for picking up the package for a former schoolmate. Casey posted $15,000 surety bond on March 18.
Casey, who entered a plea of not guilty during his arraignment hearing on October 15, changed his plea to guilty during a hearing on Monday, November 25.
Casey’s sentence was suspended, and he was placed on five years of probation under the supervision of probation and parole. He also was ordered to serve 21 days shock treatment at the Saline County Justice Facility.
