An ordinance involving police-officer training was discussed during the most-recent Carrollton Town Council meeting.
Police officers are required by the Missouri Post Commission to obtain 24 continuing, law-enforcement education hours a year.
Carrollton Police Chief Chris Looney says most of that training can be done online, but there are some classes that require in-class attendance.

Looney says these classes can run $1,000 to $1,500 per officer, per class. He said the goal is for the city to retain officers in whom it has made an investment.

In the event the officer fails to remain employed at the Carrollton Police Department as agreed upon, the officer would be required to pay back the city for the paid training.
