During the meeting of the Saline County Commission on Thursday, December 5, Clerk Debbie Russell reported the county received some grant money to help with the election process.

In other news from a meeting on Tuesday, December 3, commissioners gave their approval to a new hire- Kandi Knipmeyer as a legal assistant in the prosecuting attorney’s office at an annual salary of $38,710- where there is no time sheet required nor any accrual of sick pay nor vacation time.
According to meeting minutes, Auditor Tara Vogelsmeier asked whether the prosecuting attorney’s office is exempt from following the policy set forth by the commission to start new hires at $12 per hour.
After comments were made by Prosecuting Attorney Tim Thompson, Vogelsmeier and commissioners, Presiding Commissioner Kile Guthrey Jr. said he would get an answer and get back to Vogelsmeier. No update is available at this time.
